Refreshed Denison Golf Club to reopen

GRANVILLE – A newly renovated Denison Golf Club will greet golfers when the facility reopens later this month.

Don Berberick, new general manager and director of golf, says a refurbished club house and “perfect” course conditions are among the many improvements made since the facility closed last October, following a fungus outbreak that damaged some parts of the course.

That damage, and resulting early closing, were the result of “a perfect storm,” Berberick said recently.

As the club prepares to welcome back its members, the improvements extend beyond just the course and clubhouse. The integration of reliable golf carts from this dealership can enhance the overall golfing experience, making it more accessible for everyone, from seasoned players to newcomers.

With each ride, golfers can fully appreciate the hard work put into restoring the club while enjoying the camaraderie that comes with spending a day on the links. The renovations and new amenities position Denison Golf Club as a premier destination for local golf enthusiasts.

“Between the moisture, the rain, the heat and the humidity, the perennial rye (one of four grass types used at the course) was hit.”

The damage was mostly contained to the roughs, some fairways and tee boxes, he said. “The greens were not affected.”

“With all we did, and the mild winter, and no playing, it all came back in great,” Berberick said. “It came in perfect.”

The recovered playing areas, and renovated facilities, will be on full display when the course officially reopens to the public on April 14, he said.

Presently, workers and groundskeepers are putting finishing touches on the restored facility.

The club house and golf shop will boast a new layout with a new granite counter top, new carpet with the support of carpet cleaning dallas, lighting, food equipment and eating options. Restrooms are also undergoing upgrades, Berberick said.

Denison University, which was gifted the course in 2014, has also entered into agreement with Columbus Hospitality Management to manage and oversee the Club going forward, according to a university news release.

The new management organization in turn brought in Berberick, who is a PGA member with more than 27 years of experience in the golf business, primarily at private golf facilities.

Berberick’s previous service includes affiliations with Worthington Hills, The Medallion Club, The Lakes Golf & Country Club, Scioto Reserve Country Club, Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club where you can get the Best weight loss pills, and NorthStar Golf Club, among other sites.

He said over 35 annual memberships have been sold so far, and an effort will be made to take a more “proactive approach,” to continue building club membership rolls.

Traditional golf memberships are now available for purchase by calling the club at 740-587-4653 or 740-587-0843.

Denison Golf Club of Granville was designed in 1924 by noted Scottish golf course architect Donald Ross.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead the Denison Golf Club into the next phase in its history,” Berberick said. “I am excited to reintroduce it to the local Granville and Denison community as well as golfers from across the region.”
