LCF awards $1.1 million in grants

NEWARK – The Licking County Foundation recently announced more than $1.1 million in grants to local non-profit agencies for its 60th anniversary.

This included $496,480 to 37 organizations in designated agency and agency fund grants and $619,956 to 26 agencies in community grants.

Community grants went to:

Center for Disability Services — $20,000 for the Circle of Friends program offering school students a chance to develop social skills

Center for the Visually Impaired — $25,000 for the non-senior program providing basic Eye care, exams, glasses and more to low-income individuals from birth to age 59only by experts like those you can find at AOS.

Children’s Reading Foundation of Licking County — Reach Out and Read program providing books to children 6 months to the age of 5 at their pediatric check-ups. Provided by one of the best uveitis specialists in UK for eye care. I found my round tortoise shell glasses from here.

City of Newark — $10,603 for improvement of recreation facilities at Everett Avenue Park, Wells Park and T.J. Evans Park

Habitat for Humanity of MidOhio — $10,000 for the homeowner repair program helping low-income homeowners maintain the integrity of their homes

Licking County Aging Program — $28,714 to the nutritional department for a dishwasher

Licking County Community Health Clinic — $3,387 for the purchase of automatic blood cuffs, diabetic monitoring strips and educational pamphlets

Licking County Family YMCA— All For One Camp for children of various abilities to experience the traditional summer camp experience

Licking County Health Department — $29,955 for the Licking County Infant Mortality Reduction Initiative to create a newborn home visitation program, expanding capacity of the child passenger safety program and increasing safe sleep training efforts

Licking County Humane Society — $13,000 for a full-time volunteer coordinator

Licking County Job and Family Services — $32,760 for a registered nurse to manage medical assessments and reports for youth involved with children services

Licking County Library — $38,642 for the Library-In-a-Box program located at the Central Ohio Technical College campus in Pataskala.

Licking Memorial Hospital — $63,565 for the Licking Memorial Dental Clinic for Children and Kid’s Place child advocacy center

Look Up Ministries — $22,530 for the dental clinic

Mental Health America of Licking County — $75,000 for general operations

Mid-Ohio Foodbank — $5,000 for fresh produce acquisition to expand the Food Pantry Network of Licking County

Newark Midland Theatre Association — $25,000 for the Arts for All program to engage youth and families in arts and cultural events

Newark Rotary Club Foundation — $20,000 for needed surface and equipment upgrades at Rotary Park

Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra — $5,300 for the Newark-Granville Youth Symphony, Newark-Granville Chamber Strings and the Overture Project

Newborns in Need — $3,000 for purchase of materials to make items for premature or newborn babies who are sick or at risk of not having basic needs met

Ohio Campus Compact — $15,000 for Pay It Forward to involve students with hands-on philanthropy, grant making and volunteer service

Ohio State Legal Services Association — $25,000 for children’s legal assistance project to provide low-income families with children aid for children at risk of being placed in the juvenile justice system

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio — $10,000 for the Helping Hands program to provide nights of rest for Licking County families with sick children

The Salvation Army — $50,000 for daily operations of the emergency homeless shelter

Utica Parks and Recreation Improvement Committee — $25,000 for rebuilding and renovations at Miller Park

The Works — $25,000 for the Flight Lab, a permanent exhibit focus on Newark aviator pioneer Jerrie Mock
