NEWARK – Mental Health America of Licking County is calling on local community volunteers to help with its annual Eve Elliott Easter Basket Project. Reaching out to those who are isolated by age, infirmity or mental health conditions and to the residents of senior centers, correctional facilities and shelters is important to keeping people well and supporting their recovery.
In 2014, the project distributed more than 2,000 baskets.
According to MHA Executive Director Penny Sitler, this is one of those projects where a little gesture can bring a huge benefit.
The baskets are small deli-style containers with Easter grass and several pieces of holiday candy. For recipients who cannot have candy, the agency prepares small fruit trays with the help of volunteers from its Compeer and YES Club programs.
