Suicide Prevention Walk and Vigil

Mental Health America of Licking County will host a Walk and Candlelight Vigil to raise hope and awareness for suicide prevention at 6 p.m. Sept. 9.

The walk will begin at Real Life Church of the Nazarene at 24 Mill St., Newark, and end with a candlelight vigil in the gazebo at the Courthouse Square.

The walk and vigil are free and open to everyone. T-shirts will be available to order for $12. Orders can be placed by calling 740-522-1341 and must be in by Aug. 12.

There will be information on suicide prevention, a time for people to share their own experiences, and candles to honor family members, friends, and loved ones who have died by suicide. Everyone who has lost a loved one to suicide is welcome to bring a photograph to honor their memory.

Survivor families also can participate by having their family member’s portrait added to the Suicide Prevention Quilt.

For more information about the Walk and Candlelight Vigil and Mental Health America’s Suicide Prevention program, call Mental Health America of Licking County at 740-522-1341.
