Suicide prevention golf outing upcoming

Mental Health America of Licking County and the family of Lou Mitchell are holding the third annual Lou Mitchell Memorial Golf Outing for Suicide Prevention at noon on June 29, at the Moundbuilders Country Club.

There will be door prizes, various competitions and a cookout.

Mitchell was co-founder of Newark High School’s A Call to College program and a major donor to the Newark City School District, Dension University and the Licking County Family YMCA among other organizations and causes. He died of suicide, the same day he played a round of golf with friends at Moundbuilders Country Club.

The event is to bring awareness and education about suicide while raising funds for MHA. For more information on the event, call 740-522-1341 or go to mhalc.org.
